In 1945, in the Austrian town of Mittersill (the federal state of Salzburg), furniture manufacturer Anton Arnsteiner decided to also engage in ski production, being the first to use polyethylene in their production, thus giving rise to the BLIZZARD company. In 1957, with the increasing use of metals and fiberglass in ski production, the company began to grow rapidly, reaching a production level of 500,000 pairs of skis annually in 1970. In 1980, after several years of work, the company first introduced its famous "Thermoski" skis.
