Named after one of the largest peaks on earth, K2 was established as a ski manufacturing company. In 2003, the name was changed to K2 SPORTS. The company owns brands such as Ride Snowboards, Line Skis, Full Tilt ski boots, Tubbs snowshoes, and many others. K2 SNOWBOARDS belongs to K2 SPORTS. In 1962, founder Billy Kirschner began manufacturing and releasing the first fiberglass skis. More than 20 years later, the company decided to try its hand in the surprisingly developing snowboard market. In 1988, they decided to create the first bright, neon board called "Gyrator". It became a very important part of snowboarding history and is still one of the favorite boards of the biggest collectors. Although the company started as a ski manufacturer, it quickly gained the title of one of the most recognizable and respected snowboard brands. Regarded as a very innovative brand, it has always been looking for various innovations and improvements for its equipment.
